The Asylum Diaries: Autopsy

Submissions are always open.

We are looking for body horror fiction and poems for our Autopsy magazine!

Body horror. Blood. Gore. We want Clive Barker, David Cronenberg, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, H.P. Lovecraft. We want Re-Animator, Horns, Cronos, Tusk. We want fixations of the flesh, mutations and metamorphosis, we want futuristic hideous deformities. We want to know what it means to be human, what it means to occupy a body, what it means to have a soul.

We want to know your animalistic desires, your hedonistic fantasies, your bloody fixations. Give us your gore. Give us your own flesh and blood. Give us your pain, your sorrow. But above all, give us your best.

Scare us. Make us feel uncomfortable. Make us question the skin we live in. And remember - write to impress our body horror specialist editor, Claire.

The Asylum Diaries: Arkham

Submissions are always open.

We are looking for cosmic horror fiction for our Arkham magazine!

Authors MUST have a decent idea of Lovecraft’s mythology and his writing style. We don’t want all stories about C’thulhu. You are more than welcome to use deities within the mythos. Create your own, if you can – Lovecraft himself encouraged other writers to add to the mythos.

Don’t feel constrained in what you’re writing. However, we want your stories structured like Lovecraft’s writing style. His stories tend to be more narration than anything else. What is narrated shapes his story arcs overall, creating a long lead with little action followed by a sudden burst of horrific revelation at the end.

Scare us. Intrigue us. Unsettle us. Beguile us. Make us question our own purpose in life. We want weird horror, cosmic horror, existential horror. Impress our Lovecraft specialist editor, Misery.

Word count:
Short fiction – Up to 2,500 words
Long fiction – From 2,500 – 7,500 words
NO POETRY.
